What to do in New York, Day Trip Travel Itinerary

You made it! You’re in the big city! One day in New York City is nowhere near enough time, but if you really only have one day we hope this itinerary helps you take a little nibble out of the Big Apple.

Morning:
8:00 AM — Start your day with a classic New York breakfast at a local diner or grab a bagel with cream cheese and coffee from a neighborhood deli.

9:00 AM — Head to Central Park:
— Stroll through Central Park, an iconic urban oasis. You can visit attractions like Bethesda Terrace, and the Central Park Zoo, or simply relax by the lake.

Late Morning:
11:00 AM — Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met):
— Explore The Met’s vast collection of art, which spans over 5,000 years and includes works from various cultures and time periods.

Lunch:
1:00 PM — Enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants on the Upper East Side near The Met.

Afternoon:
2:30 PM — Go to Times Square:
— Take the subway or a taxi to Times Square, the bustling heart of Broadway, and home to the city’s most famous billboards.
— Explore the shops and theaters in the area.

4:00 PM — Explore the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA):
— Visit the Museum of Modern Art to see an impressive collection of contemporary and modern art, including works by famous artists like Picasso and Van Gogh.

Late Afternoon:
6:00 PM — Walk to Rockefeller Center:
— Stroll over to Rockefeller Center, where you can see the famous ice skating rink (seasonal), and the Radio City Music Hall, and visit the Top of the Rock Observatory for panoramic views of the city.

Dinner:
7:30 PM — Enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants in the Rockefeller Center area or take a short subway ride to a neighborhood of your choice, like the West Village, Chelsea, or Little Italy, for a more authentic New York dining experience.

Evening:
9:00 PM — Times Square at Night:
— Return to Times Square in the evening to see the dazzling lights and billboards that make it one of the most famous landmarks in the world.

10:00 PM — Conclude your day trip to New York. You can head back to your starting point or explore the city’s nightlife and entertainment options if your schedule allows.
